Spam is quite annoying

So, having had a bit of fun with the laptop last week, I’ve had the chance to reflect on some thing.
One thing is a new Thunderbird profile.  Of course, this means that I have to basically reload everything, but may not be a bad thing anyway.  It means that the new profile is clean.  But it also showed something interesting – of course even though I have the mail going through the spam filters, there are spammers who are going straight to the mail server rather than honouring the MX records for the domain.  Annoying sh*ts.
Oh, and that’s something else to be aware of.  Of course, American English is the default.  Even if you don’t live there or use their incorrect spelling.  So, I’ve just had to (re)add the Australian dictionary so “honouring” didn’t come up as a misspelt word.
Back to the spam issue.  There should be some ways around this, but 1) I’m a bit lazy and 2) the system on ged is a bit complicated.  It really needs to be retired and a new system put in place, which shouldn’t be too hard now.  I’ll get there.  So, I tried to do some sieve work but the rejection stuff I tried to implement just decided to break the filtering completely, so that’s out for the moment.  I then though I’d try doing TCP Wrappers – it’s in there, and I thought it should work, but I can still telnet from an external server. So I’ll leave it for the moment as I have enough to do with work anyway.
One other thing of note.  Need to ensure I send these from my own personal account, not any other ones of my multitudes.  I might add in my gmail account though, that might be an idea…
